1 Goldback Caritas is the first Caritas in the Goldback series and contains 1/1000th oz of 24K gold. This first design honors Nevada’s Catholic heritage while combining symbols of love, faith and family.

Caritas (Charity) is depicted as Mary, mother of Jesus, inspired by the artwork in Nevada’s oldest Catholic church building, St. Augustine’s in Austin. She stands with the Sierra Nevada Lily and Mary Magdalene Rose in containers at her feet, cherubs crowning her figure and burning hearts on either side. Through a window inspired by Virginia City’s St. Mary of the Mountains Cathedral, the Nevada sun rises over the mountains.

The design includes hidden elements: a “Love” inscription, masonic symbols, a wagon wheel and rosary beads under her dress. An ash tree represents Las Vegas as the wedding capital of the world and a family of ring-necked pheasants represent protective love. The footing represents charitable giving and selfless love. Every detail was carefully crafted to make not just currency but a representation of Nevada’s spiritual heritage and commitment to love and charity.
