Product Description
1 Goldback Pax is the first Peace in the Goldback series and contains 1/1000th oz of 24K gold. This design captures the essence of Lakota wisdom through traditional hoop dancing and symbolism.
Pax (Peace) is a Lakota woman in handcrafted regalia performing the hoop dance that represents harmony with all creation. Set against Mato Paha (Bear Butte) she is the embodiment of the Lakota, Nakota and Dakota people's identity as "The Friendly Ones" or "Alliance of Friends". The scene features the seven sacred elements: land, air, water, rocks, animals, plants and fire.
Symbols are carefully placed throughout the design: the cancega drum and Sacred Hoop/Medicine Wheel representing spiritual unity; the Prairie Crocus (Pasque flower) for the cycles of life; and animals for peaceful coexistence. The foot notation "Seek Peace" is a Lakota teaching that peace comes from treating all beings - human and natural - as relatives. Every detail was crafted from cultural insights shared directly with the artist. Not just currency but a representation of the Lakota path to peace through harmony.
