The 10 Goldback Justitia is the second time Justice has appeared in the Goldback series and contains 10/1000th oz of 24K gold. This design is unique to Nevada’s Wild West and its approach to justice, not traditional blindfolded.
Justitia (Justice) has her veil back, modeled after the Virginia City courthouse statue, meaning the territory needs to keep watch. She stands on a pillar with “Battle Born” inscribed, acknowledging Nevada’s Civil War statehood. The courthouse’s architectural elements are on the pillar.
The scene includes elements of Nevada’s natural and cultural heritage: wild horses running across the landscape, Pyramid Lake surrounded by four mountain ranges (Lake Range, Virginia Mountains, Pah Rah Range, and Fox Range), and Sandhill Cranes flying overhead. The foreground has frontier justice symbols: a six-shooter and 30-30 rifle and a wine barrel marked “Cup Bearer Wine, Cana Dry Red”. A badger and native mesquite trees represent the state’s natural character. Every detail has been thought out to make not just currency but a representation of how justice was administered in Nevada’s frontier days.
