Laurea (Honor) stands on a stone island representing Maiden's Isle in Lake Kampeska where the legend of Minnecotah's long distance love is told. The scene shows the miraculous intervention of a white pelican, believed to be sent by the sun god, bringing food to the faithful maiden in the form of fish and berries.

The scene combines elements from multiple Lakota legends: the flute story, the porcupine quill story and the dreamcatcher tradition as told by the Aktá Lakota Museum & Cultural Center.
