Product Description

The 25 Goldback Laurea is the first Honor in the Goldback series with 25/1000th oz of 24K gold. This design tells the powerful legend of Minnecotah's faithfulness and combines elements from multiple Lakota traditions.

Laurea (Honor) stands on a stone island representing Maiden's Isle in Lake Kampeska where the legend of Minnecotah's long distance love is told. The scene shows the miraculous intervention of a white pelican, believed to be sent by the sun god, bringing food to the faithful maiden in the form of fish and berries.

The scene combines elements from multiple Lakota legends: the flute story, the porcupine quill story and the dreamcatcher tradition as told by the Aktá Lakota Museum & Cultural Center. Raspberries in the foreground represent physical and spiritual sustenance. The footnoting "Honor to the Giver" is gratitude for provision and reminder of faithful stewardship. Every detail has been thought out to make not just currency but a symbol of how honoring commitments even in trials leads to divine recognition and reward.
