The 5 Goldback Industria is the first Industry note in the Goldback series, with 5/1000th oz of 24K gold. This design celebrates South Dakota’s overcoming of adversity and becoming a major agricultural player.

The design features Industria (Industry) as a farmer in a flowing dress, happy in her work as she walks through the fields. Her basket is full of corn and she’s reaching out to touch the nearby stalks, representing the reward of hard work. Behind her are grain silos with the American flag and an auger at work.

The design includes carefully chosen symbols: sunflowers for agricultural success and spiritual alignment, following the sun as we should follow truth; honey and bees for collective effort and South Dakota’s state insect; and a cornucopia for abundance. A variety of crops - corn, wheat, hay and pumpkins - for the state’s agricultural diversity and its $10 billion annual agricultural output. The footnotes “Abound in Good Works” is both inspiration and call to action. Every detail has been designed to make not just currency but a statement of how hard work turns the prairie into prosperity.
